BPMS- Implementation-Best-Practices-Series

There is enough marketing material out there that provide high level ideas and pointers towards adoption of BPMS platform. However, we have not come across any of them that throws light on ground level realities and some essential details that are easily missed out. We have also seen several BPMS implementation methodologies and scope of those remain restricted to a bunch of slides and they never get followed in actual implementation.

Some of the key areas that contribute significantly to long term success or failure of BPMS implementation relate to overall program management, while other are focused on actual implementation practices. Some of these points may sound trivial; however, those are often the real causes of program issue or failure.

Below are some of these key issues that need to be handled carefully during BPMS implementation.

  • IT must involve Business Users as stakeholders throughout the program.
  • If it’s your first implementation, start with a pilot project and pick a right process.
  • Select the right partner for implementation.
  • Ensure that the right methodology is adopted and followed.
  • Use Out of the Box features as much as possible.
  • Create Reusability through process solution or program.
  • Start creating Services for integration.
  • Develop and get User Interface sign-off during requirements phase.
  • Categorize and treat different business rules in appropriate way.
  • Don’t try and get everything in one go.

We are starting this series in which we will go deep into each of these points along with examples and how they can be put into practice.
